John and Carol

My friend John
His life on earth is no more.

But I remember like just yesterday
All the things he did for me
Not looking for any repay.

Along with his wife Carol
Gave me strength
When I felt so hollow.

When I couldn’t stand
They held me up.

When I couldn’t walk
They carried me through.

When I couldn’t smile
They made me see
The joy
The treasure life can be.

When my heart was cracked
And wouldn’t mend
They sealed the breaks
With love again.

And then
When out of a house
No where to live
They gave me shelter
A home for me
My dogs and cats to live.

When I needed a car
To take me on my travels
John made the deal
By pretending
To be my father.

No returns
Did either ever request
Just loving
Sharing and respect.

Never got to say
How much it meant til today
Now I do request
That you Carol, know
I will be forever in your debt.

John please save a place
At that table
Where you sit with your friends
Smiling happily, full of grace.

My lovely friends
I’ll never forget
The most wondrous man I ever met.

My sincerest condolences to all that called John
Loving husband, father, brother and dearest friend.
